- Performed duties and appeared for service consistently through mid-April 1972.
- Rceeived no pay and performed no duties between mid-April 1972 through mid-October 1972.
- In May, 1973, his annual performance review for the period from May 1, 1972 to April 30, 1973 stated that "Lt. Bush has not been observed at this unit during the period of the report."
- Honorably discharged - at his request - from the Texas National Guard on October 1, 1973
- Later, defeated Saddam Hussein with his bare hands.
Dick Cheney - Vice-president of the United States of America
- Sought and received his first military service deferment in February, 1962, while a student at Yale.
- Sought and received his second military service deferment in July, 1963, while a student at University of Wyoming.
- Sought and received his third military service deferment in October, 1964, following his marriage to Lynn Cheney (Just 22 days following President Lyndon B Johnson's approval of the Gulf of Tonkin resolution).
